An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 8

Assalamu Alaikum.

Okay, I’ll pick up from where I left off yesterday.

So, the question was why a murderer who applied tawheed would eventually enter Paradise but a kind, generous disbeliever (meaning he did not apply tawheed) would never enter Paradise.

This is an issue that many people cannot understand and I’ll tell you why. It’s because they look at it from their perspective – therefore murder seems worse than shirk.

However, one needs to ask what the worst sin is, in the SIGHT OF ALLAH. Then one can get the correct perspective.

An Introduction to the Lord of the Worlds – Day 7

Assalamu Alaikum.

[Please excuse the bad editing. WordPress tends to behave like a drama queen sometimes.]

8. He is the One who has prohibited that any partners be attributed to Him in any way whatsoever and He will not forgive the one who dies attributing partners to Him.

Let’s go though this step by step:

Assalamu Alaikum.

[No, no, I am not Bengali, not even close. I just came across a translation of this book in Bengali by mistake.]

Yes, even more stuff on tawheed. Can anyone ever get tired of tawheed?

[Well, only if he/she has a really diseased heart, I suppose.]

Here’s one of the better books in English on this topic. It really simplifies matters greatly.

It’s one of those “must read” books.

Here’s the Bengali translation. I’m assuming that it’s authentic. However, could someone, who knows Bengali, please check it against the English text as well? Jazakumullahu kheira.

Book: The Declaration of Faith

Assalamu Alaikum.

If you ask the average Muslim a few questions about Ramadan and fasting (the 4th Pillar of Islam), he/she would know quite a bit.

If you ask that same person a few questions about the Shahaadah (the 1st Pillar of Islam), he /she will be less likely to answer them.

Why? Well, honestly, I have no clue.

I can’t understand why people who give no importance to the first three pillars of Islam would give so much importance to the fourth one. Haven’t they heard of “priorities”?

So, how  much do we all know about the first pillar of Islam? After all, the entire religion is based on this statement.

We can easily give a one hour talk on it………..right?

If the answer is no, then it’s time to  learn about this statement right now.

Here’s nice, easy, comprehensive book which talks about the meaning and benefits of the Shahaadah:

The man with the 99 scrolls

Assalamu Alaikum.

99 scrolls? Yes, it has all its misdeeds written on it.

Here’s the story:

Abdullah ibn Amr ibn Al-Aas narrated that the Messenger of Allah (salallahu alaihi wasallam) said: “Indeed Allah will distinguish a man from my Ummah before all of creation on the Day of Judgement.

Ninety-nine scrolls will be laid out for him, each scroll is as far as the eye can see, then He will say: ‘Do you deny any of this? Have those who recorded this wronged you?’ He will say: ‘No, O Lord!’

So He will say: ‘Do you have an excuse?’ He will say: ‘No, O Lord!’ So He will say: ‘Rather you have a good deed with Us, so you shall not be wronged today.”

Then He will bring out a card (Bitaaqah); on it will be: ‘Ash-hadu an laa ilaaha illallah wa ash-hadu anna Muhammadan abduhu wa rasooluh’ (I testify that there is none worthy of worship except Allah and I testify that Muhmmad is the His slave and His Messenger).

He will say: ‘Bring your scales.’ He will say: ‘O Lord! What good is this card next to these scrolls?’

He will say: ‘You shall not be wronged.’ He said: ‘The scrolls will be put on a pan (of the scale) and the card on (the other) pan; the scrolls will be light, and the card will be heavy, nothing is heavier than the name of Allah.’”

[Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadeeth No. 2639. Graded “saheeh” by Shaikh Al-Albani in Sahih Sunan At-Tirmidhi, Hadeeth No. 2639.]

Please note: The card was heavy because he applied the Shahaadah (at least on a basic level) and fulfilled its conditions. Otherwise, such merits are not attained merely by uttering this statement and then acting in a manner contrary to it!

So, let’s take this as an incentive to learn about tawheed and apply it because it counts for a lot of the Day of Judgment.

Project “Recover Ramadan” – Step 12: Start learning about Tawheed

Assalamu Alaikum.

Yes, I keep saying it and I will keep saying it.

Tawheed. Tawheed. Tawheed.

This religion starts and ends with tawheed (worshipping Allah alone).

We were created to worship Allah alone. If we do not know the Names and Attributes of Allah, nor do we know how to worship Him properly, how are we going to be able to fulfill our purpose of life?

Those of you who have studied tawheed will understand the importance of it.

Sadly, those of you who have not studied tawheed aren’t going to understand its importance until you study it. After that, you’ll finally understand why studying tawheed makes a WORLD of difference to your life. (And you’ll also understand why I keep harping on about it and keep nagging you to study it.)

Studying tawheed is something that completely changes one’s perspective and puts one’s heart at ease. It is the solution to all of one’s problems.

The Prophet (salallahu alaihi wasallam) focused  only on tawheed for TEN years. How many of us have even studied it for that long?

Many people say “Oh, we know it already.”

You can be sure that anyone who can actually bring himself/herself to utter the above statement has NO clue about tawheed.

And please don’t say “later”. Say “Yes, insha-Allah” and get a book or an audio on tawheed ASAP.

PS. Here are some resources for studying tawheed that I had put up in the past.

Lecture: Propaganda Against Tawheed

Assalamu Alaikum.

There’s a “propaganda” against tawheed (worshipping Allah alone), you ask?

Of course.

Shaytaan knows that tawheed is the key to Paradise and the key out of Hell so he’s been really busy stopping people from learning about tawheed.

See, it’s simple. The whole religion of Islam is based on tawheed. The person who does not comprehend the tawheed of Allah has not comprehended the religion, even if he understands everything else.

Here’s a lecture about this issue. I chose this lecture for two reasons:

1) Tawheed is the most important topic, therefore we should spend more time on it.

2) The brother giving the lecture is an ex-teacher of mine, the late Uthman Barry (rahimahullah). I wanted him to get some sadaqah jaariyah.

I’m in the process of listening to it. I think that those who are interested in Islamic and world history might really like this lecture because he discusses lots of stuff.

May Allah reward Brother Uthman Barry for spreading tawheed during his lifetime and grant him Al-Firdaus. Ameen.

Some Resources for Studying Tawheed

Assalamu Alaikum.

A sister reminded me that I had promised to post a few resources on tawheed so here goes:

[Note: This is a short list for now. Insha-Allah, I’ll be posting lots more resources after Ramadan.]

[I’ve mentioned many of these sites before.]

1. http://www.qsep.com/ – Wonderful stuff.

2. http://www.islamiconlineuniversity.com/ – There are quite a few free short courses here. Some of them are about tawheed.

3. http://www.calltoislam.com/ – Lots of tawheed resources on this website.

4. http://understand-islam.net/site/ – HUGE amount of information.

5. http://www.islamlecture.com/ – Detailed explanation of many of the major books of Aqeedah (creed).

6. http://thefiks.org/ – Some of it is free and some is paid. Either way, this is an excellent place to learn.

7. http://www.albaseerah.org/ – They have live audio lectures with scholars (real ones). The forums are really useful as well.

That should be enough for now.

Hope that helps, insha-Allah.

Lecture: Ramadan – Reflections on Tawheed (must watch!)

Assalamu Alaikum.

Finally.

Finally what, you ask?

Finally, someone came out with a lecture entitled “Ramadan and Tawheed”.

I had already found an article entitled “Hajj and Tawheed” (check this post).

Now, all I need to do is find something on “Salah and Tawheed” and “Zakaah and Tawheed”, and I’ll be over the moon.

[If not, then I’ll just write on those topics myself, insha-Allah.]

Why is it so important? Because the last 4 pillars of Islam are different ways of implementating the first pillar of Islam, which is the statement of tawheed (worshipping Allah alone).

Sadly, many Muslims have no clue what tawheed is. They think that it is confined to knowing that there is one god.

Nope. There’s so much more to it than that.

When I was teaching my students about tawheed, one of my students asked (after seeing all the evidence for tawheed), “Why don’t they talk about this?”

Because Shaytan doesn’t want anyone to? If we know what tawheed is and we implement it, we’ll be happy in this world and we’ll get Paradise in the next. He doesn’t want that. He wants us to apply shirk (the opposite of tawheed) so that we can all be in hell with him.

Think I’m joking? Please read the story of Adam (alaihissalam) and Iblis. Then you’ll understand that the real battle going on in the world is the battle between tawheed and shirk.
